I had a fun day today. Today I met up with Clinton at his house. He was playing a Ratatat song off a compilation CD his friend made for him, which I immediately liked. We met up with a few of his friends at a body piercing shop, where he got a new piercing in the cartilage of his right ear, and his friend Kat got her earlobes stretched and new jewelry. She was hurting pretty bad after the piercing. After that we went to Veggie Heaven, had spicy thai food, then bubble tea at Momoko. Next we met up with Amanda at Amy's (where Clinton got us some free ice cream because he used to work there), and then we went to Waterloo to buy some Christmas presents. I bought a Buddy Holly and Kinks best of for my Dad, an Erasure DVD for my brother, and an album by this band called Ratatat (because I liked what I was hearing earlier today at Clinton's). I'm really grateful I can be friends with Clinton... we've been through some tough times the past year. I love him very much.

I just got back from seeing The Faint. Best show I've seen this year, hands down. They're one of the few bands that can get me moving. I'm usually the guy who just stands there and gets lost in the music that way... at this show, I was completely into it and didn't think twice about moving around like an idiot. Some people who said they were watching me said I didn't move around all that much... well, maybe so, but I moved around a lot more than I usually do. And it felt like I was dancing. So there.

I feel like I'm developing my own dancing.. err, 'grooving' style. I feel like editing drum loops on the computer is helping me develop my sense of rhythm and in turn enabling me to dance better. I moved along to the synth lines and drum grooves pretty well I think. I responded naturally to the music , and Michael Jackson said that's the key to dancing well, and Michael Jackson is the bestest dancar evar and has teh final say on tehse mattarz k?

The Faint is such a tight unit live. The drummer never missed a beat... he did even better than they do on the albums, and I think they use sequencing when they're recording. Sonically, the show was second to none. The sound was mixed incredibly well. I've never heard better, in fact. Jacob sung personably and expressively. I liked when he swung the microphone/cord around. Joel was spot on with the basslines. The keyboardist did incredible things with the Nord Lead 2 (but it may have been a Lead 3). The video clips playing in the background were very well done and fit the grooves perfectly. They definitely made the show seem more chaotic and dancey. I heard the band edited the clips together themselves (they do the album cover art too.. or at least they did for Danse Macabre). They played a Talking Heads cover which sounded fantastic.

I ordered a Faint vinyl EP that has a Sonic Youth cover on it, and a collaboration with Bright Eyes. I should be receiving it soon.
